RMR Footprint Pistol Compatibility Guide

What is the RMR Footprint?

The RMR footprint is the industry-standard mounting pattern originally introduced by Trijicon. It features two front alignment sockets and two screw holes located near the middle-to-rear of the optic housing. It is the most robust and widely used standard for full-size and compact semi-automatic pistols.

1. Direct Fit (No Adapter Plate Needed)

The following pistols come from the factory with slides specifically milled to the RMR footprint. You can mount our RMR optics directly onto them:

  • Shadow Systems: MR920 / DR920 / XR920 (Elite/Combat models feature a multi-footprint system that fits RMR directly using their included spacers).

  • ZEV Technologies: OZ9 (Most Optics Ready models are natively milled for RMR).

  • PSA Dagger: Compact / Full Size - RMR Cut Models (Ensure you purchased the RMR version, not the Doctor version).

  • Custom Slides: Any aftermarket slide specified as "RMR Cut" (e.g., Brownells, Grey Ghost Precision).

2. Requires Manufacturer Adapter Plates (Optics Ready Systems)

Most major brands use a modular system (a deep universal cut) that requires a specific adapter plate (usually included with the gun or sold by the manufacturer) to fit an RMR optic:

  • Glock MOS (Modular Optic System): Requires Glock Plate #02 (Full size / Compact models like Glock 19 MOS, 17 MOS, 45 MOS, 47 MOS).

    • Note: Does NOT apply to G43X/G48 MOS.

  • Sig Sauer P320:

    • P320 Legion / M17 / M18 / PRO Cut: Requires an aftermarket filler plate or adapter plate (like CHPWS or Apex) because the factory slide has a DeltaPoint Pro/RMR combo cut but needs a sealing/filler piece for RMR screws.

  • Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 C.O.R.E.: Requires Plate Type A (Included in the S&W factory box).

  • Walther PDP:

    • PDP Version 1: Requires Walther RMR Plate.

    • PDP Version 2 (Current Standard): Requires Walther New RMR Plate (02).

  • Canik:

    • TP9 Elite Combat / SFx: Requires Canik Plate #2.

    • METE Series: Does NOT natively fit full-size RMR (METE uses a micro footprint).

  • FN 509 Tactical / MRD: Requires FN Plate 502 (Included in the FN MRD kit).
